Judge Vanzi’s Cut and Run Accusations: Judicious or Cowardly?
Sunday, February 25th, 2007Albuquerque District Judge Linda M. Vanzi didn’t like the zealous representation that Attorney Stuart L. Stein was providing for Bruce and Ruth Clinesmith in the guardianship and conservatorship case before her in 2005, but instead of holding him in contempt, she made a complaint to the Disciplinary Board.
No Basis to Hold Stein in Contempt
Judge Vanzi’s Orders that she claimed Stein violated were so poorly written she didn’t have a basis to hold Stein in contempt - proof positive he did not violate her orders. In a nine-page letter to the Disciplinary Board Vanzi claims, “Mr. Stein has repeatedly violated the Court’s Orders…”. Surely, any judge dealing with a lawyer who “repeatedly” violates their orders would hold that lawyer in contempt and either fine or jail them. (more…)
